Maltesers have just introduced the perfect movie snack!

Ever since the restrictions eased up, people have been allowed to enjoy their time in public again, with lots of us rushing for the big screen.

If you’re like us, who love cinema snacks as much as the movies themselves, then this article is for you!

Aussies all over social media are going into a frenzy over the news that a new Maltesers flavour is now available on Coles and Woolies supermarket shelves nationwide.

And it’s not just any flavour, it’s a limited-edition variety that sounds like the perfect snack to bring to the next family movie night!

Introducing Mars Wrigley’s Popcorn-flavoured Maltesers!

Who here has mixed maltesers in with their popcorn before? Raise your hand. We have ours raised and we bet quite of few of you did too.

If you have never tried the combination, just imagine the chocolatey flavour and crunch of Maltesers slightly melting with the salty and buttery taste of popcorn. Yum!

But you don’t have to imagine anymore as Coles and Woolworths stores all over the country are now offering the sweet treat! A 130g pack is available for $4.50 from Woolies, but Coles is doubling down on their “prices are down” motto, and offering the choc balls for a dollar less.

Ben Hill, the brand’s marketing director, said that the limited-edition flavour was inspired by movie nights with family and friends.

“It’s been a full-team effort and we’re incredibly excited to have this product on shelves for 2022,” he added.

Judging by the reactions of Aussies who have purchased the snack, we can safely assume that the new flavour is a certified hit!

On Instagram, one woman jokingly asked people to get the snack away from her. “They are so addictive. I ate the whole bag in one sitting,” she added.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, a second person described the popcorn flavour as “the same as Buttered Popcorn Jelly Bellies”, another popular movie snack.

So for our chocolate and popcorn-loving members out there, head over to your local supermarket now or you might just miss out!

But if you’re looking for a more “personalised” movie snack to serve with the family, you can always try making your own chocolate popcorn at home! Watch this video to learn how:

Have never been a fan of popcorn, way to dry for my taste, but I do remember a snack from eons ago called Lolly gobble bliss bombs, the popcorn was coated in honey and just so addictive, I could plow through as much of it as I could get my mitts on in one sitting, I have not seen it for years and have no idea who made it and even if it is still available.

Green's General Foods make them. They are available from both Coles and Woolworths.
