Make the famous Grill’d chips at home – minus the calories!

There is simply nothing better than spending a summer night lounging at home and bingeing your favourite shows, with a plate full of delicious, crispy chips in one hand and the TV remote in the other.

And every Aussie knows that Grill’d’s famous thick-cut potato chips, sprinkled with their signature herb mix, are among the best chips out there.

But why pay for them when you can make some yourself?

We came across a recipe online that we would like to share with you! It’s much healthier, easy to make, and all the ingredients are available from Woolies! How good?!

Does it match the taste test? Only one way to find out!

Bec Hardgrave, a fitness coach based in Brisbane, posted a video online showing how she recreated Grill’d’s famous potato chips. We love her work here at the SDC, and have posted some of her recipes before, such as her healthy red rooster flava wrap!!

All you need for this one is the following herbs and your chips:
  • Salt
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Macro’s straight cut chips
She starts by cooking around 150g of the frozen chips in the air fryer (We’re pretty sure every member here in SDC has one. But if you haven’t bought yours yet, we suggest Kmart’s new twin air fryer!) at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.

In a separate small bowl, she mixes all the dry ingredients to make the herb mix. The amount depends on each person, but we recommend a few pinches of each ingredient. We trust your judgement.

Once the chips are done, toss in the herb mix, stir it all up and bam – your tasty homemade Grill’d chips are ready to go.

Several excited viewers commented on the video, saying they can’t wait to try the recipe for themselves. “I am so trying this!!”

Even Grill’d Burgers’ official TikTok account wrote a comment on the video, saying: “Sharing is caring!”

One user even asked Bec if she knew any dupe for the fast-food chain’s herbed mayo sauce. The fitness coach responded by making another TikTok video, pointing her followers to Woolworths and recommending Birch and Waite’s parsley, dill, and tarragon sauce.

Looks like we’re off to Woolies to grab these ingredients. Maybe we’ll see you there!
