Shoppers have already begun to spot a new version of our beloved Milo on supermarket shelves, creating an exciting buzz among fans. Nestlé has confirmed that this new variation, called Milo Pro Powder, is indeed hitting the market.

Don't worry. Our nostalgia-filled, iconic chocolate malt drink still retains the traditional taste we all adore. What makes the Milo Pro Powder unique is that it packs a whopping 15g of protein per glass when served with milk. That's right: you get to savour that classic Milo flavour, all while reaping the benefits of protein!

And that's not all. Alongside Milo Pro Powder, Nestlé is also launching Milo Protein Snack Bars in June. These convenient bars contain 6g of protein and aim to bring you the same delicious taste of the original Milo we know and love.

Rebecca Dobbins, Nestlé's General Manager of Dairy, spoke about these exciting changes: 'Milo has been an Aussie favourite for generations, and we want people to be able to continue to enjoy it in a way that suits their lifestyle.'

She added, 'Protein can play an important role for many people, including teenagers and active Aussies who have additional nutrition requirements.'

With these additions, fans of the classic Milo are already reacting with enthusiasm and anticipation. Comments on social media range from 'Take my money and run!' to 'Yum, can’t wait to try the bars!' Some have even compared the new Pro Powder to Milo Xtra, a protein-rich version of the drink launched in 2020.

Milo enthusiasts eagerly waiting for these new products won’t have to wait long: Milo Pro Powder (700g) will retail at $15.50 and will be available at Woolworths, Coles, and independent grocers from late May. As for the Milo Protein Snack Bars (6 bars for $8), they will hit the shelves at Coles and independent grocers from mid-June.

The Iconic History of Milo: How the Popular Brand has Adapted Over the Years

Milo, the iconic and beloved chocolate malt drink, has been a staple in the pantries of Australians for generations. Initially created as a health tonic for malnourished children during the Great Depression, the powder quickly achieved cult status and today is enjoyed by adults and children alike.

Since then, the Milo brand has tweaked and evolved its recipes over the years in order to meet changing consumer tastes. For example, Milo Xtra, a variation of the original drink, was released in 2020 and provided 12g of protein per cup when mixed with milk—making it perfect for those looking for post-exercise recovery.

For many Australians, Milo stands as an iconic reminder of childhood and a tie to a happy past. However, it is clear that the brand is continuing to adapt in order to meet the changing needs and dietary requirements of its customers—as evidenced by its latest iterations.

I love reading your comments , you are a natural comedian and have a way of making us laugh ...I think or are you serious🤔

It's been quite a few years since I drank Milo. The last thing I remember was throwing out the tin as the contents had solidified and probably could have been used as a building material. I did like Milo but since being diagnosed as a Diabetic years back I have not returned to it. Can anyone tell me if this new one is Diabetic friendly?

They are coping Ovaltine who have also done the exact same thing. All their old stock disappeared suddenly from the shelves and their so-called new formula on the shelves. A little more in the tin but a $massive price hike. Do they really think people do not notice the massive price hikes.

Milo has just 'copied' and using the excuse Pro. The original product has been worked for Milo & Ovaltine for years, so Why change? ! ?

Thankfully Coles had a sale $3.45 (original price $6.00 415 grams) on the original tins and I stocked up as I only had a few tins left. They expire 2024. The new tins now $8.00 retail and the $2.00 more retail price is for 480 grams. So, $2.00 more retail 65 grams). Coles have on sale now for $6.00 new Ovaltine tins but I'm patient and have enough to last me several months. I'll wait until they are at least $4.50 per tin and stock up again.

I'll stick with the old Milo I've been having since I was a kid and a bit hard to change at 63 years old

So let's change the name on the tin to Milo Pro Powder and charge more. What is wrong with leaving things are they are? My daughter loves Milo, but if that means they are going to hike up the price because they added 3 more gms of protein and two extra words on the tin, then I will encourage her to learn to love something else.

She will taste the difference and I'm not thinking a goid difference.

They will still be selling the original, they are just adding another variety .
Young people are really into the protein
