Macca’s chocolate soft-serve rumour squashed

McDonald’s quietly launched their chocolate soft serve in a select number of stores across NSW, Queensland and South Australia back in September last year.

Now there are rumours circulating on social media that claim Macca’s is rolling out the chocolate soft serve nationwide – but what does the fast food giant have to say about this?

Those who were lucky enough to get their hands on the tasty treat reported that the soft serve 'tasted like chocolate custard', and begged McDonald's to 'please keep' the flavour and make it a permanent addition.

But the fast food giant continued their trial run in a select number of stores – leaving many wanting more.

Now, there are rumours going around that McDonald’s is ‘expanding its chocolate soft serve’s availability and range,’ thanks to Sydney-based food blogger Adrian Widjy.

In the caption, he wrote: ‘The long-awaited and rare chocolate soft serve is now more available than ever!’ He added that McDonald’s also had new ‘sundaes and McFlurry too’.

However, McDonald’s Australia has since revealed that this is untrue and that the item is not available ‘nationwide’ as many were expecting.

A spokesperson for the fast food chain said: ‘It’s great to see so much excitement for the Chocolate Soft Serve, but McDonald’s Australia is currently still trialling the product in select restaurants across the country.’

The good news is that the trial has now expanded to include more branches across the country, but still within participating areas.

In the video, Adrian did try to warn people about the disclaimer, but it didn’t stop social media users from going wild in the comments.

‘It’s coming nationwide I believe. My store in WA is getting a new machine soon,’ said one fan.

Another admitted they visited three different stores but had ‘no luck’ in finding the treat.

The lucky few who got their hands on the highly sought-after dessert were delighted.

‘It literally tastes like a chocolate Paddle Pop,’ one declared.

‘Finally in my area!’ Another shared.

A third gushed about how the soft serve looked ‘so good’.
