Luxury vehicle brand recalls over 100 units over multiple issues

Navigating the roads of life can often be as complex as the insides of a vehicle.

Drivers should stay informed about the health and safety of their vehicles, especially if they carry a mark of prestige.

Luxury vehicle brand Peugeot issued a significant recall that could affect many drivers.

The manufacturer recalled 130 units across their 308, E-308, and 408 models built in 2024.

According to the recall notice, these affected vehicles had a software glitch within the Door Control Unit (DCU).

'Due to a software issue, the Door Control Unit (DCU) for the drivers and front passenger doors may not operate as intended,' Peugeot wrote in an official recall notice.

'As a result, it could prevent the doors from locking or unlocking, exterior mirrors from folding or adjusting and the windows from auto-reversing.'

Moreover, the recall notice also highlighted a concerning scenario, where the vehicle's transmission may lock in the Park position after being stationary for an extended period.

This issue could render the car immobile.

While these issues could be a cause for concern, Peugeot assured owners of the affected vehicle should still be able to leave the vehicle.

'In the event of an emergency, or the vehicle getting locked in Park position, the driver and/or passenger can exit the vehicle using the internal and external door handles,' Peugeot stated.

Another cause of concern, however, was the malfunction of the windows' auto-reversing function.

This non-compliance violates the Australian Design Rule (ADR) 42/05—General Safety Requirements.

This recall came on the heels of Peugeot's parent company, Stellantis, which was facing several challenges in the automotive industry.

Drivers who own any of the Peugeot vehicles mentioned may check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) if they are affected by the recall.

This unique identifier can be found on registration documents, insurance policies, or on the vehicle itself.

Affected vehicle owners should immediately reach out to Peugeot to rectify these issues free of charge.

Owners can contact their preferred authorised Peugeot dealership to schedule an appointment.

For those who need more information about the recall, call Peugeot's customer relations team through their hotline, 1800 307 607.

They can provide guidance and answer any questions about the recall.
