Lucky BIG W shoppers score big with $1.60 laundry detergent

BIG W customers were recently sent into a buying frenzy over a laundry detergent flash sale.

Images shared by shoppers show that 5.4kg packs of Cold Power Laundry Powder had been marked down to just $7—meaning a saving of a whopping $28—while 2kg packs of Fab Laundry Powder had been slashed to just $1.60.

Shoppers urged other customers to jump on the deal before it was too late - 'I grabbed the last box of Fab at my local 7.5kg for $5,' wrote one Facebook user.

Another said: 'I picked up three boxes of Cold Power at $7. Never seen it this cheap!' while one more added: 'So lucky. Great way to save money.'

Unfortunately, some shoppers said they were disappointed that there was no reduced stock at their local BIG W.

This is because some specials are only available through online purchases and in selected postcodes only. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to access the deals ourselves, but we encourage you to have a go and keep an eye out for more deals like this from BIG W.

'It’s $7 in Adelaide, but all gone,' said one on the Markdown Addicts Australia page.

So, if you get your hands on the deal, count yourself lucky!

Money-saving tips for purchasing and using laundry detergent

If you missed out on the opportunity to take advantage of the money-saving laundry detergent deal, don't worry! There are still other ways you can save money when it comes to purchasing and using laundry detergent:

  1. Bulk buy when on sale: Laundry detergent can be pricey, but it’s non-perishable and has a long shelf life. So, seize the opportunity to stock up whenever you spot a deal like the one from BIG W.
  2. Measure your detergent: A common mistake people make is using too much detergent. Instead of mindlessly pouring it in, take the time to measure the right amount.
  3. Use cold water: By using a detergent designed for cold water, like Cold Power Laundry Powder, you can save money on energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint.
  4. DIY detergent: For those feeling adventurous, creating your detergent at home can be an effective way to save some dollars. There are numerous simple recipes online using ingredients like bicarb soda, washing soda, and bar soap.
  5. Pre-treat stains: To avoid using excessive amounts of detergent or unnecessary re-washing, pre-treat any stains before throwing your clothes into the washing machine.
