Vegemite is a staple in almost every Australian household, and it would be next to impossible to find one without a jar or two readily available in the kitchen pantry.
Most people still think of Vegemite as a spread for toast, but it's finally time to recognise it for what it really is: a certified pantry staple that can also be used in a wide variety of dishes. (Vegemite is also used in cooking, you know!)
Australia's beloved spread, Vegemite, is releasing a limited-edition line of jars named after fan-favourite meals that can be created using the unique flavour to further cement their place among the best and the must-have condiments in the kitchen.
On Thursday, supermarkets began stocking special editions of Vegemite in jars and squeeze tubes with one of six different 'Mitey Meal' designs that will rotate throughout the year.

Countless dishes have been reimagined by Australians using Vegemite; however, nachos, bolognese, pizza, stir fry, and pho stand out as among the most popular, prompting the company to create dedicated jars to each.
The QR codes on the special edition labels may be scanned to access the recipes for each dish. Neat, eh?
Ash Barty, a former tennis star who recently announced her retirement, will be honoured on one of the jars by having her signature dish, her spin on chicken parmigiana known as the 'Barty Parmy', included on some labels.
The company's Marketing Manager, Jess Hoare, expressed the hope that the ‘Mitey Meals’ would showcase how Vegemite can give well-known dishes around the world a 'uniquely Aussie' flavour.
'We apologise in advance if adding Vegemite to meals was your well-kept secret ingredient,' they joked.
‘Mitey Meals’ will be sold in 150g, 380g, and 560g jars, as well as 200g and 350g squeezy packs, at all major grocery stores nationwide.

While the classic Vegemite-on-toast-with-butter combination remains a fan favourite, the new line of products showcases the variety of itsuse in Australia.
According to a Facebook poll by the company in August, bolognese is the most popular dish in which Vegemite is used. Sixty per cent of people surveyed had used Vegemite in their cooking before and found it to be delicious, whereas the other forty per cent had never used it before but were interested in doing so.
The comments section was filled with suggestions for tasty uses of Vegemite. Some ideas that didn't make it into the new line-up included gravy, soup, scones, cheese puffs, and chocolate truffles.
The official Vegemite YouTube channel features a variety of other mouthwatering recipes that call for the use of the classic spread; we have included a few of them in the following section for your convenience.
