Louis Vuitton's latest release has shoppers saying: 'In this economy?'

Louis Vuitton's latest release has left shoppers talking, but not for the reasons the brand might have expected.

With a price tag that's hard to ignore, these new accessories have sparked a variety of reactions across social media.

From playful jabs to serious concerns, the buzz surrounding this launch is hard to miss.

Louis Vuitton's latest collection of food-inspired bag charms left many shoppers stunned and unimpressed.

The charms, which include designs of croissants, donuts, chocolate bars, fortune cookies, and pizza, come with a hefty price tag of around $1,550 each.

When the Instagram account Hyped Leak shared a post featuring these eccentric accessories, it didn’t take long for social media to react.

The post, which read 'Louis Vuitton just dropped these food-inspired bag charms for USD 1,000 each. Which one's your favourite?', sparked a flood of comments.

While some were in disbelief over the price, others made jokes about how soon they would appear as cheaper knockoffs on other platforms.

One person responded with: 'SHEIN boutta have a field day.’

Another joked: 'See ya on Canal Street'.

Others pointed out that the trend of quirky bag charms had been done before, with brands like Kate Spade, Betsy Johnson, and Coach already releasing similar designs.

One commenter even slammed the charms as 'already done' and remarked: 'These have all been already done by Kate Spade, Betsy Johnson, Coach, etc. the list can keep going, but it's been done.'

Many voiced frustration over the price, calling it a 'waste of money', but some still expressed interest in collecting them.

Others were critical of Louis Vuitton's current direction under Pharrell Williams, who became the creative director of Louis Vuitton's menswear division in 2023.

Some shoppers suggested the brand had 'gone downhill' since Williams took over, with one person saying: 'The brand has gone downhill.'

The backlash was similar to the response to another of Williams' creations, the Millionaire Speedy—a $1 million version of the iconic monogrammed bag.

Louis Vuitton fans had mixed reactions to the bag charms, with some defending them as fun collector's items, while others expressed frustration over the lack of originality.

One person on Reddit showed off their croissant charm, explaining that they used it to hold their inhaler.

Another added that they found a similar version of the charm for a much lower price on Etsy.

But for many, the charms were a symbol of how out of touch the brand seemed with the realities of the world.

'In this economy?' one commenter wrote, highlighting the stark contrast between luxury items and everyday struggles.

Even though the charms sparked mockery, some found themselves intrigued by the idea of starting their own food-themed collection.

The price tag wasn’t the only surprising element—Louis Vuitton also released lobster and gyoza-shaped bags, pushing the limits of fashion to a new level.

As Louis Vuitton continues to push boundaries with Pharrell Williams at the helm, it remains to be seen whether these wild designs will be a passing fad or a statement of the brand’s new identity.

Whatever the case, one thing is clear—Louis Vuitton is no stranger to controversy.
