The seemingly never-ending price hikes on commodities have prompted many people to seek out ways to lower their grocery bills.
Some of the alternative methods that some savvy thrifters have tried (and suggested) include shopping around for cheaper prices and raising your own chickens for eggs and meat.
However, one of the most feasible money-saving tips that we often overlook is the method of regrowing your own vegetables from scraps.
While this process appears to be simple, not everyone has the knowledge and skills to grow plants on their own.
If you're anything like us who are not blessed with a green thumb, then we have good news for you!
TikTok user Armen Adamjan, better known by his username @creative_explained, has shared the five vegetables that you can regrow from scraps without breaking a sweat.

In the now-viral video, Armen demonstrated the hassle-free steps to prepare the vegetables for planting and regrowing.
"Did you know you can regrow certain plants?" he asked at the beginning of the clip.
So, what exactly are the five vegetables that you can easily regrow from scraps?

1. Lettuce

Armen reveals that the bottom of the lettuce can be regrown by using a simple trick.
The TikTok user explains: "When you chop off the bottom, don't throw it out."
"Put a stick through it and place it over a glass of water, so just the bottom touches the water."
He claims that the lettuce will start regrowing in just one day.
Armen also advises using filtered water for this setup for best results.
2. Basil
It takes around three days for the basil stem to grow roots, according to the TikTok user. Credit: TikTok/@creative_explained.
The TikTok user says that you can easily regrow basil by taking one stem and cutting off the "bottom sets" of leaves.
He quips: "When you buy a basil from the store, just grab one (stem)".
"Pick off the bottom sets of leaves."
Armen then makes a 45-degree angle cut in the stem before placing it in a glass of water.
According to him, the roots will grow out from the stem in three days.
Once the roots have grown, plant the stem in a pot with soil.
3. Celery

Regrowing celery follows a similar process as propagating lettuce.
Armen says that all you need to do is to cut two inches off the bottom of a celery stalk before putting a stick through it and placing it over a glass of water.
"It's going to start regrowing!" the TikTok user says, suggesting that once the roots start to appear, the celery is good for planting in a pot with soil.
4. Shallots or Green onions

We must admit that this veggie is the easiest to re-propagate out of all the crops mentioned on this list.
Armen advises cutting off the bottom of the plant before planting it directly in soil.
"They'll regrow in like six days," he said.
5. Carrots

Let's be honest, we often chop off and discard the tip of the carrot where its leaves grow due to the fact that we deem this part inedible.
But, did you know that you can plant it directly in a pot of soil to regrow your own carrots?
Well, this hack is a bit inaccurate as Armen's tip only claims that you can grow your own carrots from carrot tops.
While it is impossible to grow the edible part of the carrot roots (the orange taproot) from its tops, the regrowing carrot tops allow you to harvest carrot seeds from them, which you can use for growing your own carrots.
Here is another video showing a more elaborate demonstration of how to regrow carrot tops until they yield seeds.

"Save some money and reduce food waste by doing these!" Armen says at the end of the clip.
The video has gone viral, amassing more than 235,000 views and hundreds of comments from TikTok users who raved over the hacks.
One person exclaimed: "You're saving the earth!"
"Man is going to teach us how to build a house," one person jokingly wrote, referring to Armen's numerous "home hacks" on his page.
A third chimed in: "Well didn't know that, bro. Your videos are so unique and useful,"
Meanwhile, one woman expressed her gratitude for Armen's money-saving tips, writing: "I want you to know how much money you have saved me, hundreds of dollars and I want to say thank you."
