LET'S GO TILLIES!
Members, I have to admit I had never watched a game of professional soccer until this World Cup... But I am now hooked!
I just wanted to do a special post today wishing the Matildas the best of luck! I am already so nervous for them, but I am also incredibly proud of them. I'm not sure about you, but for me its been incredibly special watching these women dominate on the world stage. I have also loved seeing how they have managed to bring the nation together, I haven't felt this kind of buzz in years. On Saturday night, as I am sure many of you already know, they broke the record for the most watched sporting event in Australian history! I know for me, I'll never forget where I was and who I was with when I watched the Matildas beat France and qualify for the semi finals!
If you aren't a big fan of soccer, I don't blame you, I wasn't either, but I can assure you, you won't regret watching tonights game. Let's hope the Matildas win and make it into the grand final! (I have goosebumps just typing this!)
If you didn't watch Saturdays game, checkout the highlights below!
I also just wanted to share with you all a little heart warming sight I came across after Saturday nights game. I live right on a park which is often chocablock filled with kids playing. Mostly boys kicking a footy around or playing some cricket, but on Sunday morning when I woke up, made my coffee, and got in my favourite spot (which overlooks the park) I saw a group of little girls in the park running around playing soccer and I just thought, wow. These Matildas are really having a huge impact on our younger generation and it's just so lovely to see. I know lots of girls and women play sport, but I just wanted to share that this was the first time I saw a bunch of young girls playing soccer in the park just for the fun of it. What do you think, members? Do you think it's great to see or is it just a bunch of media hype? I'd love to get your thoughts on this one.
I think we are witnessing history at the moment, and I hope you are all enjoying it as much as I am.
Let's go the Tillies!!!!
