Learn the cheap and easy way to keep your oven clean

If you want to keep your oven in tip-top shape, it's important that you give it a good clean regularly. Otherwise, you might find yourself staring into an oven filled with grease, grime, and mysterious burnt-on food stains that even the most vigilant scrubbing can't remove.
So, if you're looking for a more natural solution that doesn’t involve harsh, pungent chemicals, consider one of the options we’ve listed below.
While it's tempting to reach for the industrial-strength oven cleaner, you won't need it if you have just two inexpensive and simple staples at home: dishwasher tablets and soda crystals (also known as bath salts).
This hack was shared with a popular Facebook group for cleaning experts after a woman asked for advice on oven cleaning.
‘Any recommendations to clean the bottom of the oven and door without using harsh chemicals?’ She asked.
Many suggested using an oven cleaner, but the acid it produces has a strong smell of chemicals.
Instead, the other option was to use a dishwasher table to clean the inside of the oven and the racks.
‘A dishwasher tablet in the bottom of your oven with water boiled from your kettle,’ said one person.
Another man suggested placing the dishwasher tablet in a hot wet cloth before rubbing it over the oven door, and then wiping off the excess residue.
‘You may have to do it a couple of times, depending on how dirty it is,’ he added.
You don’t even need to use an expensive brand of dishwashing tablet to use this hack. CHOICE put dishwashing detergents to the test to find out which ones are the best. One of their recommendations is ALDI’s Logix Platinum 18-in-1 Dishwashing Tablets which only cost $7.49.
If you want to use dishwashing tablets as a paste, you’d only need to mix it in with water. This forms an abrasive surface which can help remove built-up grease and food stains without scratching the inside of the oven.

For oven racks, some people suggested soaking them in soda crystals.
One woman advised placing old towels under the racks first so they don’t scratch the surface of where you’re soaking them.
‘My mum soaks the racks in soda [crystals] overnight, and the grime comes straight off,’ she said.

For those who are looking for a more natural way to clean their oven, you just need a couple of things:
