In streaming and home entertainment, many have turned our living rooms into personal cinemas.
A key component to achieving that big-screen experience is a reliable projector mount, ensuring our precious equipment is securely fastened and positioned perfectly for movie nights.
However, a recent safety concern has emerged, prompting a widespread recall that may affect many.
The product in question is the XCD metal ceiling projector drop mount sold by JB Hi-Fi, which has been recalled due to the absence of a crucial safety feature.
Product Safety Australia issued a recall notice explaining that the mount lacks a secondary locking mechanism.
‘The adjustable arm may fall from the mount if the mount is adjusted with the projector attached,’ the recall said.
‘There is a risk of serious injury if the adjustable arm falls from the ceiling mount with the projector attached.’
‘Consumers must not attempt to adjust the length of the projector mount by releasing its locking mechanism without first removing the attached projector.’
The recall affects many consumers, as the item was sold in stores across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory.
It was available for purchase between 5 January 2023 and 26 March 2024 and carries the model number XCDPROM1.
To address this issue, JB Hi-Fi is offering a replacement projector mount at no additional cost to the purchaser.
If you own one of these mounts, you should immediately contact JB Hi-Fi to arrange the installation of the replacement.
You can reach them by calling 1300 524 266 or sending an email to [email protected].
This comes after the Jaguar Land Rover issued a recall for 143 vehicles due to a potential fire risk.
The recall was prompted by a manufacturing defect in the oil filter housing that could crack and possibly lead to a vehicle fire.
