Labelling issues trigger urgent recall issued for a popular tzatziki brand

Tzatziki, a classic Greek yogurt-cucumber dip, is a popular condiment enjoyed by many across the country.

However, food safety authorities have recently issued a recall for a leading tzatziki brand that has been sold at major supermarkets across the country.

The Fifya Greek Tzatziki, a favourite among many Australians, has been recalled due to non-compliant labelling that could pose a health risk to consumers with a milk intolerance.

Quality Food World, the company behind the Fifya Greek Tzatziki, announced the recall on Friday.

While the lid of the dip is labelled dairy-free, the ingredients list includes milk.

This discrepancy was flagged by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ), who warned that consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance could have a reaction if they consume the product.

The food safety agency has advised: 'Consumers who have a milk allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.'

The dip with faulty labelling has 'best before' markings of April 30, 2024, and May 30, 2024.

It has been sold at Coles Local shops and independent retailers, including IGA supermarkets, across NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, and Victoria.

For further information, customers are encouraged to contact Quality Food World Pty Ltd n 1300 765 459 or send them an email at [email protected].

In similar news, a recall has been issued for the Old El Paso Hard n Soft Taco Kit for missing allergy warnings on its label.

It was discovered that some of the kits contained a sachet that failed to declare the presence of milk, a common allergen.

This oversight could potentially lead to serious health issues for those with a milk allergy or intolerance.

The 350g dinner kit has been widely distributed and sold at Woolworths and Coles stores in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, and Western Australia.
