Kmart's sizing mix-up leaves customer hopping mad: ‘How did someone miss this?’

We all know the thrill of finding that perfect item while shopping, be it online or in a store. It could be a trendy outfit, a stunning piece of jewellery, or a gift for our beloved grandkids.

After all, stumbling upon a great bargain is a sweet victory we all love to celebrate! But what if that amazing find turns out to be a dud due to an unexpected mistake?

This scenario hit home for a mother who recently went on an online shopping spree. Her excitement turned to frustration when her supposed 'great find' didn't quite meet her expectations.

Kim, a doting mum, set out on a mission to find the perfect pair of sparkly pink shoes for her daughter. She scoured the internet and stores, leaving no stone unturned until she stumbled upon what she believed was a match made in heaven.

Her answer? Kmart - one of our favourite go-to destinations for affordable and trendy products. Without hesitation, Kim placed her order and eagerly waited for the coveted shoes to arrive. Can you imagine the excitement? After all, who wouldn't want to see their little one's face light up with joy upon receiving such a thoughtful gift?

However, Kim's bubble of happiness quickly burst when she opened the package. Instead of finding the perfect pair of shoes, she was greeted with disbelief. It wasn't a matter of a mismatched design or colour, but rather a mismatched size!

To her astonishment, one shoe was size 9, and the other was size 11, even though they were labelled as size 11 in the package. It was a real shocker!

Frustration hung heavy in the air as Kim took to social media to vent, throwing some shade at Kmart with a scathing remark: 'Well done, Kmart.' Who could blame her? She was understandably aggravated that someone else's mistake meant she had to go through the hassle of returning the shoes.

But the real mystery that has left Kim and fellow shoppers scratching their heads is how the shoes managed to be packaged together, even though they were different sizes. It's a head-scratcher, isn't it? 'How did someone miss this?' asked one person.

It seems that Kim's unfortunate experience isn't a one-off incident with Kmart. Other shoppers have shared similar tales of woe, with one father recounting how he received two left-footed soccer boots in different sizes for his child.

A female shopper had a similar experience when she ordered a pair of sandals, only to find out that they were in different sizes – one was a size 7, while the other was a size 9. It's not exactly what you'd call a perfect fit, is it?

In fact, last December, we covered a story about an Aussie mum who ordered a $70 Bluetooth portable speaker with lights from Kmart as a Christmas gift. Instead, she received a box filled with six pairs of mismatched shoes.

The mum took to social media to share her experience and warn others about what happened, hoping to spare others the same frustration. It's clear that something's amiss with Kmart's quality control when it comes to fulfilling online orders.

Key Takeaways

  • Online shopping can be an exhilarating experience, especially when you stumble upon a great bargain or the perfect gift. However, it can turn into a nightmare when your finds turn out to be less than perfect thanks to an unexpected mistake.
  • Such was the case for a mother who recently ordered a pair of sparkly pink shoes for her daughter from Kmart, only to receive mismatched shoes of different sizes, leaving her and her fellow shoppers baffled.

We've all been there - eagerly waiting for an online purchase to arrive, only to find that it's not quite what we were expecting. Kim's frustrating experience is just one example of the mishaps that can occur when shopping online.

While we can't really avoid mistakes on the retailer's end, there are ways to minimise the risk of such incidents when shopping online.

First and foremost, take a moment to carefully review your order before clicking that 'buy' button. Check the sizes, colours, and specifications to ensure they match your requirements, and don't rush the process to avoid any unwanted surprises.

Secondly, if you do receive mismatched or incorrect items, don't hesitate to reach out to the store's customer service. Many retailers have friendly and helpful customer service teams who are more than happy to rectify their errors and turn your experience into a positive one.

Lastly, if you're in the market for shoes, why not try them on in-store if possible? It's always a good idea to check the sizing, comfort, and quality of the shoes before making a purchase. Plus, it can be a fun excuse to get out of the house and indulge in a little retail therapy!

Kim's experience is a valuable lesson for all of us to stay alert and cautious when shopping online. In addition to the tips mentioned earlier, another helpful tip is to read product reviews and ratings from other customers before making a purchase. This can give you an idea of the product's quality and help you avoid potential issues.

Speaking of similar experiences, we'd love to hear from you! Have you had a frustrating online shopping mishap or an experience that taught you a valuable lesson? Share your story in the comments below and help other shoppers stay informed and prepared.

I received two identical boxes from BigW. In one box was what I had ordered. In the other was my delivery note with a whole heap of random stuff - kids toys and colouring books, a windcheater and a door mat! I took it back to the store and tbh got a strange reaction from the lady on the service desk. It was like what do you want me to do with this?

Being limited to only buying online, I have personally lost count of how many items are not what they should be, or don't arrive at all.
The latest was returned just 2 weeks ago when I ordered a Queen valance for my bed.
The very good quality zip-up plastic bag, that it was packed in, was labeled 'Queen'.
When it frustratingly would not cover the mattress, I checked the label, which clearly read, 'Twin Bed!' I'm assuming it means 'Double'.

A couple of weeks ago I recieved a very unusal item in the mail with no details of who sent it or where it came from, the parcel was long and rectangular. It was wrappedd tightly in black plastic, inside there was a black rectangular box and to my complete surprise there in front of me was a 5" bright pink vibrator. I said jokingly to my wife, what have you ordered now. We both live in an aged care facility and you can only imagine what fun we all had with jokes and puns about this incredibly embarrassing item. Can you imagine my total embarrassment taking it to the post office for return and they look at me, the senders address and so on. One staff member said to me put it a sellers ???? and you will get $50 for which I was shocked to find this out.

After trying to return a faulty item to Kmart, walking kilometers to the right area within the shop, and after a debacle about doing the right thing by Kmart, my bag was searched by a young person who was incapacitated to say the least, and asked me where is the original receipt was (which the dept. took off of me)
I said to the staff watching my every move "Don't expect me to come back, ever!"
Kmart used to be a loving shop with staff you could ask help, tellers who were good and polite, and there were aisles in order. Now it's a hotch potch store, no staff, and a pay here in the middle of the store.
HATE IT,
