Kmart shoppers ‘obsess’ over this $69 dupe of $599.95 luxury item: ‘This is everything’

In a world where the cost of living is rising, finding a bargain can feel like striking gold. That’s why Kmart has become the go-to destination for chic yet affordable homewares.

The latest treasure to cause a stir among savvy shoppers is a designer-esque mirror, a piece that combines luxury with accessibility, and it's flying off the shelves faster than you can say 'bargain hunter's dream.'

Kmart's recent release, the Velvet Floor Mirror ($69), part of their August Living collection, has been turning heads and opening wallets.

This stylish item, priced at $69, is a 'dupe' for a high-end homewares piece that typically costs $599.95.

The Gigi&Tom Asymmetrical Wavy Velvet Full Length Mirror ($599.95), known for its unique wavy design and plush velvet finish, has a budget-friendly twin in Kmart's latest offering.

The budget retailer's version has been designed with the current economic climate in mind, ensuring that style doesn't have to be sacrificed for affordability. As the cost of living pressures mount, Kmart's commitment to providing on-trend homewares at a fraction of the cost is a breath of fresh air for consumers.

‘Kmart, this mirror is everything,’ one declared.

‘I got the Kmart Velvet Mirror, and I am obsessed,’ another said.

According to Nicholas Holmes, Home Buyer at Kmart, Velvet Floor Mirror ‘was inspired by fluid and wavy shapes, a trending form this season’.

‘By incorporating a velvet finish on the mirror, the design plays with the resurgence and popularity of this fabrication in home decor while making this look and feel accessible to our customers,’ he said.

‘We recognise the importance of versatility in furniture items. The neutral colourway of this mirror allows it to tie in beautifully with customers' existing styling seamlessly, whether it be in the bedroom or living space.’

‘This mirror has usability in mind, best styled leaning up against a wall. The mirror works as both a statement on its own or paired with a side table and the customer's choice of decor,’ he added.

But the Velvet Floor Mirror isn't the only item causing excitement at Kmart. The retailer has also seen a rush on its $15 Anko Microwave Toastie Maker.

‘It goes in the microwave for three minutes, I think halfway through, you have to flip it over to ensure its crispness,’ Kmart Divisional Merchandise Manager Meryn Serong said.

‘We often talk about the power of one item and how much joy that can bring to our customers, this item is definitely the one of the season.’
