Kmart loses ‘K’: Quality control blunder in online shopping has shoppers surprised

Online shopping has become a staple in our daily lives, offering convenience and a wide range of products at our fingertips.

However, as one Kmart shopper’s recent experience showed, sometimes what you see online isn't what you get delivered to your doorstep.

Like many of us, Jacinta was excited to receive her order, a new Heart Bath Mat ($12) from Kmart with an uplifting message printed in white font: ‘You Look Good’.

It's the kind of item that can add a touch of warmth and personality to a bathroom, not to mention a little boost of confidence during our daily routines. But upon delivery, Jacinta was in for a surprise.

The mat that arrived had a glaring typo: it read ‘You Looy Good’ without the crucial ‘K’ in ‘Look’.

It's a small error that completely changed the message and, frankly, the quality of the product.

Taking to social media to share the Kmart blunder, Jacinta posted a picture of the mat and said, ‘Just received my online order, not quite sure how it should read.’

‘Someone had one job, do they not look at what they send out?’

Some social media users were stunned by the typo, with one commenting, ‘Oh my, that is awful. Send that one back.’

Another added, ‘This doesn’t look good.’

Despite the glaring mistake, some social media users found humour in the blunder.

One user quipped, ‘Okay, after a few (glasses of) wine things get blurry. I guess.’

Another user added, ‘Use it for your toilet.’

A Kmart spokesperson acknowledged the bath mat concern and said, ‘The team is looking into the issue.’

‘We always encourage customers who experience any issues to reach out to our customer service team directly so that we can resolve it,’ they added.

This wasn’t the first time Kmart shoppers have experienced a product mishap.

In a previous story, a Kmart shopper spotted an error in a pack of sports socks, sparking a wave of amusement and confusion on the internet. You can read more about the story here.

These incidents led many to question the store’s quality control standards.

Yes and I tried to contact the supplier with no luck. Just about had to accept I’d lost 70$ for an item I couldn’t wear. But I got in touch with Pay Pal and they took the matter up and deposited $70 in my bank about a week later. Learned not to purchase on line unless I can use PayPal. Incidentally I also contacted BankCard but didn’t receive any help. I do know that merchandise should be ‘fit for the purpose for which it was sold’ according to our Trade Practice Act
