Kmart clock transformed into a stylish ‘magical’ table – see how one DIY enthusiast did it

We all have that one favourite film or tv series that we watch over and over again. And each time we watch it, we find ourselves drawn to certain objects or pieces of furniture that we wish we could have in our own homes. But often, these things can seem too expensive to recreate.

However, there are ways to get around this. If you're creative, you can find ways to build some of these items, or even find similar pieces that won't break the bank.

Just take a look at this one Harry Potter fan who has recently made the rounds on the internet after she revealed how she managed to transform a Kmart clock into a posh piece of furniture inspired by her favourite film.

The best part of this transformation is that the style inspiration is subtle and could fit into any classical and stylish home.

Alena, a hairdresser and makeup artist from Sydney, chose to recycle an old Kmart clock into a table made of metal.

Sharing her project on the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook group, she said that she utilised the enormous metal clock she had been using for a few years from Kmart.

'I wanted to add a clock tower like in Harry Potter but it was impossible living in a unit,' she wrote.

'I decided to make something that looked like it was from the Harry Potter movies but at the same time was useful in the house.'

Alena also shared the easy process for her DIY project, saying that all you need to do is to use a fishing line to fasten the clock to the base of a circular table frame.

Once the clock and the table are attached together, install a glass table top.

And voila! You now have a Harry Potter-themed table.

'My Slytherin House (one of the houses in Harry Potter) theme started to take a shape slowly, l think this large clock from Kmart, really helped turn a trash table to treasure,' she added.

The post has gained popularity in the group amassing more than 600 likes from Facebook users who praised Alena for her inventive tip.

One group member wrote: 'Absolutely gorgeous!!! You're so clever.'

'Wow that table looks amazing,' another added.

A third chimed in: 'Looks absolutely fabulous, wish I was as talented as you.'

Others were charmed by the dining room's extensive Harry Potter tribute.

One person said: 'What a fabulous idea - love your Slytherin-themed room.'

'You’re a very clever chicken! That’s so creative,' another praised.

A third remarked: 'I’m looking at the chandelier too and can imagine the waved/arm bits holding the globe, becoming snakes.'

With a little bit of creativity, you can make your vision a reality. There are plenty of ways to get creative with your furniture and create pieces that are inspired by your favourite films and tv series.
