KFC Chicken

Recipe by Taste of Home

Ingredients​

  • 4 cups plain flour, divided
  • 2 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 3 teaspoons pepper, divided
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons chicken seasoning ( see notes)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.2kg chicken pieces
  • Oil for deep-frying

Directions​

  1. In a large shallow dish, combine 2-2/3 cups flour, garlic salt, paprika, 2-1/2 teaspoons pepper and chicken seasoning.
  2. In another shallow dish, beat eggs and water; add salt and the remaining 1-1/3 cups flour and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Dip chicken in egg mixture, then place in flour mixture, a few pieces at a time. Turn to coat.
  3. In a deep frypan or fryer heat oil. Fry chicken, several pieces at a time, until chicken is golden brown and juices run clear, 7-8 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels
NOTES

Chicken seasoning can be purchased in herb n spice section at woolworths or Coles.
Or to make your own mix together the herbs n spices below

HOMEMADE CHICKEN SEASONING
  • 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
