Kate Middleton ‘snubbed’ by Jamaican Politician

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s week-long Platinum Jubilee tour of the Caribbean has hit another bump in the road after a short clip emerged online, showing a Jamaican Politician appearing to give the Duchess the cold shoulder.

In the now-viral video, Lisa Hanna, a former Miss World who now works with the People's National Party, can be seen sitting alongside Kate, who was wearing a bright yellow dress which was said to be a nod to the flag of Jamaica.

Kate and Lisa met and greeted each other moments earlier at an arrival event at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, and the two women were seen happily chatting during the ceremony.

However, the 5-second clip showed the two after they have settled down, with Lisa looking away and ignoring Kate as she tries to converse and smile at her.

The Duchess quickly stopped smiling and turned away when she received no reactions from the Jamaican politician.

Hours after the video was posted online, several users and royal fans alike said they felt “second-hand embarrassment” from the interaction.

According to media reports, it seems like all of it was just a “huge miscommunication,” and the video was taken out of context. The reports went on to say that “Lisa probably did not hear Kate amidst the crowd and the strong winds.”

In Ms Hanna’s subsequent posts on her social media pages, she shared that she and Kate actually got along really well and had a “very interactive and pleasant” conversation throughout the proceedings.

“Today, I welcomed Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate to Jamaica on behalf of the Leader of the Opposition in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee,” she wrote, followed by a video and several photos of her meeting and greeting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

“We had a very interactive and pleasant conversation throughout the proceedings as we talked about family, our cultures and our people.”

She continued, “There’s no doubt at this time that we all seek our true independence and want to develop systems and strategies where we become free from the monarchy.”

“But until then we will always remain a courteous and respectful country.”

“I welcome them wholeheartedly with our warm hospitality, and look forward to us having productive discussions about our future.”

The People's National Party, which is led by Mark Golding, is in favour of removing the Queen as head of state and has been lobbying Britain for reparations.

Another Grace Tame moment. I believe the Jamaican politician knew exactly what she was doing. Just my thoughts.

It is long over due...the Monarchy is only for England. And let the rest of us move on and be free. Why is the Queen of England still holding onto an Empire??

Of all the Countries under a Westminster System of Government with a Royal Head of State, there has never been an internal Civil War. When countries leave that system of government, civil unrest ensues.

Ms Hanna would do well to clear up the apparent snub with an a public apology.
The people of Jamaica will make their own decision as to whether to remove the Queen as Head of State until then it is for everyone to behave in a curteous manner. Jamaca if does move away from the Commonwealth will be ripe for China to get its claws in. It should be very wary of its decision.
