The statement read: ‘A 48-year-old Sunshine Beach man has been issued an adult caution for common assault.’
‘The matter has now been finalised from a police perspective.’
It is not yet clear what led to the ‘warning’ being issued to Stefanovic, though it is alleged the television host touched the waiter involved in a manner that was deemed inappropriate/ common assault.
The event in question was a six-hour fundraising event in aid of melanoma research. It was attended by around 350 guests and managed to raise $290,000 to help support those suffering from the disease.
No official statement has been provided by Channel 9, the network that broadcasts the Today Show hosted by Stefanovic, on their stance regarding this incident as of writing.
