Jimmy Barnes shares 'very happy' news after major surgery

Jimmy Barnes, a.k.a. the Working Class Man, has been one of the most influential rock stars from Down Under for the past five decades.

Despite his age, fans are always eagerly waiting his next show as he always delivers nothing short of an electrifying performance!

Unfortunately, the 66-year-old was recently forced to cancel his upcoming tour and undergo urgent surgery on his back and his hip to relieve the chronic pain he has been experiencing for years.

And just a few weeks after the Aussie rocker dropped the bombshell, his family has shared an update on his health, and fans are thrilled to know that he is on the right track to recovery.

In an update shared on Instagram recently by Barnes' daughter Elly-May, it looks like her dad's transformation since undergoing the surgery has been nothing short of miraculous! Holding up an X-ray of his hip post-surgery, she said that doctors were very pleased with how things went and thanked everyone for their good wishes.

'Hey everyone, it's @ellymaybarnes, my dadda is out of surgery and awake,' she wrote alongside a photo showing Jimmy looking well while lying in bed at the hospital. 'The doctors are very happy... thanks for all your well wishes.'

Barnes appeared pleased with his progress thus far, which is understandable given that announcing his decision to cancel his tour of Australia last month (he revealed it all in a heartfelt video clip) clearly wasn't easy for him.

'I've been jumping off PA's [public address systems] and stomping around stages for nearly 50 years, but it's finally caught up with me', Barnes quietly explained before revealing hospitals told him they recommend four months minimum recovery time.

Hours before heading into his surgery, Jimmy readied himself with a performance by singing John Hiatt's 'Have A Little Faith' while his wife Jane played the guitar like no other.

'I'll be on the operating table tomorrow, so thanks for all your encouraging wishes,' he wrote in the caption of the clip.

Barnes also reflected on how much cancelling most of his shows hurt him. 'It's against my religion to cancel shows', he said matter-of-factly, showing no sign whatsoever that any difficulties ahead were dampening his spirits.

Luckily though, he pulled through just fine - giving us something nice to remember over the holiday season!
