Jimmy's health troubles began in November when he was rushed to the hospital for bacterial pneumonia.
He was later sent to the intensive care unit in December as a bacterial infection had spread to his heart.
The infection affected a valve that had been previously replaced due to a congenital defect. The urgency of the situation led to open heart surgery.
The surgery required Jimmy to cancel his remaining gigs, which was ‘hugely frustrating’ for the rock star, who had been in excellent physical shape before the health issue arose.
Now, with his successful recovery, Jimmy Barnes is set to return to the stage with a highly anticipated performance at Bluesfest Byron Bay on 31 March.

‘I really want to thank everyone for their support and good wishes while I was ill. The family were passing on your messages of care, and it really lifted my spirits.’
