'It literally happened to her': Woman recounts wild encounter before going to bed

As we tuck ourselves in for the night, the last thing we expect is an uninvited guest joining us under the covers.

For one woman, her bedtime story took a slithery turn that's enough to make people's skin crawl.

On a seemingly ordinary evening on Bribie Island, a local woman experienced the shock of her life.

Just as she was settling into the comfort of her bed, she reached under the sheets and felt something unexpected—a snake's tail brushing against her leg.

Summer Woolston from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 shared the hair-raising tale in an interview.

'Honestly, when she called me, I was like, "I'm so sorry," and I laughed. She was laughing too,' Ms Woolston said.

'It's the kind of situation that people think about. "Imagine if you're sleeping and a snake slid over you," and it literally happened to her.'

Fortunately, the woman was no stranger to these creatures as she previously kept them as pets.

However, the unexpected visit from the carpet python was far from a welcome sleepover.

'I feel like anybody, even I, would probably get a bit of a spook if I unexpectedly woke up to a snake in pitch black in the middle of the night,' Ms Woolston further shared.

'But yeah, she was definitely quite freaked out.'

With nerves of steel, the woman managed to calmly leave her bed, secure her dogs in another room, and promptly call for assistance.

Yet, upon her return, she discovered the python attempting an escape through an open socket.

'It's pretty normal for a snake to get startled as well by seeing either a human or dog, and then just find the closest getaway point,' Ms Woolston explained, who suspected the snake knew where to hide.

'I feel like it came from there because it's such a specific spot, and it was kind of behind the bed.'

Once the snake vanished into the wall, the chances of capturing it dwindled as it could navigate its way around the house.

The woman decided to cover the socket to prevent it from re-entry.

However, in a surprising twist, the woman found the python lounging on her dresser the next day.

Baffled by its re-emergence, she once again sought professional help.

A snake catcher was dispatched to the scene, and the uninvited guest was safely released into nearby bushland.

According to Ms Woolston, the woman's response to this encounter was commendable.

'Everything she did was perfect—she got her dogs out, and she didn't touch the snake,' Ms Woolston emphasised.

In Australia, handling a snake without the appropriate licence is both dangerous and illegal.

Ms Woolston warned against grabbing a wild snake in such circumstances, as their powerful muscles could let them cling onto humans and potentially lead to complications.

This serpentine saga, shared by Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 on social media, should be a reminder to all Aussies.

Before you drift off to Dreamland tonight, give your bed a quick check.

If ever you find yourself in a similar predicament, remember to stay calm, keep a safe distance, and call the experts immediately.

I had a green frog trying to get into my wardrobe one night. I picked him up and put though to the garden in our pool area. Unfortunately we had another one years later, screaming, I don't know if you have ever heard a frog scream, but it is terrible. The dog had got it and the poor fella was not doing too well when my husband got to him.
