Is your vehicle safety hazard? Master van faces recall over fire risk

We often rely on our vehicles for everything from daily errands to grand road trips, so they must be reliable and safe.

Unfortunately, a significant safety concern has arisen for some Renault Master owners.

Renault Australia has issued a recall for 601 examples of its Master van, spanning models built between 2014 and 2023, due to a manufacturing defect that could potentially lead to a vehicle fire.

‘Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel delivery pipe may become damaged due to contact with the engine wiring harness,’ the recall notice said.

‘As a result, fuel may leak in the presence of an external ignition source, resulting in a vehicle fire.’

‘A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or property.’

If you own a Renault Master, it's imperative to check whether your vehicle is affected by this recall.

Renault has made the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list available, which allows owners to verify if their van is part of the recall.

The original recall notice provided further details on the issue and the steps to rectify it.

Renault Australia Customer Service is available for contact for those who may not want to wait for the written notification or have further questions.
