Is your Kia at risk? Find out why nearly 4,000 vehicles are being urgently recalled

Nearly 4,000 Kia’s have been recalled over fears that a software issue could lead to injury or death. A defect that, at the time of reporting, is only impacting Kia vehicles manufactured in 2022.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, some Kia MQ4 Sorentos and MQ4 PHEV Sorentos that were made in 2022 have a software issue that may cause an indicator malfunction.

'If the turn indicators do not illuminate as intended, other road users would be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning,' the department warned.

They went on, 'This could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.'

If you or someone you know owns an affected Kia, we definitely recommend making contact with either the manufacturer or your closest Kia dealership immediately. All repairs will be done free of charge.

To find out whether or not you have an affected car, you can call Kia's Customer Service on 131 542 or email [email protected]. It’s also a good idea to keep an eye out for the official recall notice.

While the risk of an accident occurring as a result of this defect is low, it's always better to be on the safe side.
