International Women’s Day
‘tis not an easy path
That women have traversed
Amidst all odds, have risen in stature
From being a ‘person timid’
A notion ill perceived
To high echelons in the Defence
To becoming world leaders
To coveting Nobel Prizes
To surpassing the super computers
From a ‘victim’ of domestic abuse
Instead of hiding behind sympathy tears
To an advocate for women’s rights!
From being the gentle housewife and mother
To ascending the top corporate ladder.
From being an objectification subject
Women of the World (WOW) have broken
The stranglehold of men in arts, science and what not
And closing the impossible gender gap
And so befit to celebrate: International Women’s Day
