In the market for affordable oak-look flooring? Look no further than Kmart!

We all know that the longevity, improved aesthetic, and higher resale value of hardwood floors make them the flooring material of choice in many homes.

But on the other hand, vinyl floors are much cheaper, extremely easy to install, and incredibly resistant to moisture. That is probably why they have been getting more and more popular among homeowners lately.

So if you are in the market for new flooring at the moment, you might want to consider vinyl.

Right now, home designers are obsessed with oak-style vinyl flooring, so if you're looking for some, you can simply head over to your local Kmart.

Yes, you read that right, folks! One of our favourite retail stores is now selling oak-style vinyl flooring, which promises to replicate the look of high-end wooden floors, for just $15 per pack.

Each flooring package contains eight 'heavy duty' vinyl tiles measuring 30 cm by 30 cm and were created to resemble classic oak floors.

According to Kmart, the self-adhesive tiles are ideal for instantly upgrading your bedroom, living room, or dining area because they are 'easy to clean and do not require grouting and cementing'.

The tiles are also said to be detachable, waterproof, and have 'simple peel-off backing'.

The self-adhesive tiles, according to Kmart, are also DIY-friendly, simple to use, and can modernise your house without breaking the bank. These tiles can be installed on any floor that is relatively smooth, making them an excellent choice for use in the bedroom, kitchen, or living room.

Plenty of Kmart shoppers have already noticed the brand-new item in stores, which led to a frenzy among customers. On social media, several users have shared their reviews.

'They look good!' said one person in a Facebook post.

Another shopper who bought the tiles agreed and added: 'I've just started my kitchen. Very easy and they look great!'

Despite all the great things we just told you about vinyl floors, there are a few things you should know about them before installing them in your home.

Here are some factors to take into account to make sure vinyl is the best material for your home renovation project.

Subfloor requirements

As we mentioned earlier, when putting in a vinyl floor, it is best if the subfloor is as smooth and flat as possible. Vinyl is a 'soft' flooring material, which means that any flaws in the subfloor will show through. Also, any large or small pieces that get under the floor during installation could cause bumps on the surface and, over time, wear down the material itself, leading to tears and rips.

Heavy loads

Again, because vinyl is a 'soft' material, it sometimes isn't strong enough to support heavy loads, and it can be harmed by sharp objects. To ensure that vinyl flooring can withstand the environment, it's crucial to take into account the furniture and activities that will occur in the room where it will be installed.

Exposure to sunlight

When installing vinyl flooring, homeowners need to be cautious not to expose the vinyl to direct sunlight. Vinyl floors can lose their colour over time if they get too much direct sunlight, so keep that in mind when deciding if it's a good choice for the room you're renovating.

So there you have it, folks! While vinyl flooring is great in general, you still have to make sure that it's the right choice for your home renovation project. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Can you lay these on top of existing tiled floors?
If the existing tiled floor is SMOOTH, then yes, these vinyl tiles will lay over the existing floor.
You must be very careful as many tiles floors have high spots and these will show through the soft vinyl tiles. If vinyl tiles are stuck down and a high spot runs "accross" the oak grain in the new tile it will show out like a sore thumb.
Hope these thoughts help.
