There's no doubt that IKEA is a go-to spot for affordable home furnishings. But what if you're looking to add a little extra flair to your space? With a little creativity, you can customise IKEA products to create unique pieces that will make your home stand out.
If you're on the hunt for some DIY references to spruce up your IKEA furniture, then you're in luck! We're sharing some of our favourite IKEA tips for you to try at home.

Materials:
- MALM make-up table from IKEA
- One 12” roll of Woven Wallpaper (removable)
- Wallpaper applicator (provided with your wallpaper order)
- Scissors
- Drill with bits for installing castor wheels & handles
- Brass Castors
- Lucite drawer handles
Steps:
1. To start, take the table's glass top off (if it has one) and flip it over so that the feet are in the air. To avoid having to later dirty the paper, castor wheels will be applied first. Drill the castors then add the wheels. Use the screws provided to secure. To provide stability and a smooth glide, make sure to add them at the same location on each foot.
2. Flip your table back over after the castors are in place and wash off the surface to make sure it is spotless and free of debris.
3. Apply the wallpaper pattern first to the table's top. Tip: cut a single piece of wallpaper from the roll after measuring twice. Start at one end and merely peel back a few inches to adhere it, as you would with any other wallpaper. If you apply it gently and inch by inch, it will be easier for you to get a smooth finish. Additionally, it will make course correction a little easier than using a huge sheet of adhesive paper. Smooth down the first few inches with the wallpaper applicator to remove the air bubbles before continuing the process throughout the paper. Peel back a few more inches after the initial round is finished if you're happy with the results.
4. Repeat step 3 for the front of the table, the front of the drawer, and both sides of the table. You have the option of spending the time matching up the pattern.
5. Add the handles to the front once the wallpaper has been applied to the entire table. To prevent markings on the front, take all of your measurements within the drawer. Installed the handles by drilling holes and then following the installation manual.
6. Wipe down your glass top one last time before reinstalling it on the table. Before using the design, avoid getting any stains or dirt on it by storing it off the floor.
