I thought I heard the world sigh
What have we done to the world we love?
The sky’s still blue with clouds above.
The birds still sing but they are fewer.
Don't fish here –too near the sewer!
The majestic monarchs take a toll
As climate change plays a major roll
I see whats coming, should I cry?
I thought I heard the world sigh.
Weather bombs of snow and rain
Heat records are broken again
Rain amounts in inches per hour
Tropical storms have mega power.
Reefs have lost the rising heat battle
Rain forests are cut to pasture cattle
Are we too late to wonder why?
I thought I heard the world sigh.
Ice caps melt and water rises
Floods & famine are not surprises
Super germs and virus scares
Medical alarms and no one cares
Corporate greed and the power guys
Say they care but its mostly lies
Is this the end? Will we all die?
I thought I heard the world sigh.
Imagine the future, all dark and gloom
Just candle light from a shoddy room
To live in rubble and fight to survive
That world is more dead than alive.
Lets see again in a thousand years
That lessons learned will change their tears.
They are wiser now, no need to sigh
This new beginning is a victory cry.
