I asked the scammer for their phone number and told them I phone back - they did not hang up and hooked me in again

Woman rang who said she was from government fraud organisation and said that someone was trying withdraw money from my bank account. I said to give me the phone no and I call back. She said I give it to you but you must realise the money can be withdrawn in the meantime. She also said she is not allowed to take any of my personal details to protect my security but she will transfer me to a security department of my bank. The man answered with the name of my bank and proceeded to 'check' my account details to which I said ' I am not going give this to you' and hang up. I rang my bank, I have a new credit card and my internet banking is locked now until my mobile is cleared.
It is likely that hackers got into my mobile by me opening a msg and clicking on link to their website.

This sounds terrifying, @steph ! 😣 We're so sorry this happened. We highly recommend you report this as soon as you can to the ACCC. Here's a quick link to their website: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam
