Hunting
A father takes his son hunting for the first time.

He tells him, “Stay here and be very quiet. I’ll be across the field.”

A few hours later, the dad hears a blood-curdling scream!

He runs back, shouting,
“WHAT HAPPENED?! I told you to stay QUIET!”
The boy, trying to catch his breath, says:
“Dad… I was quiet.
I didn’t say a word when a snake slithered across my boots.

I didn’t move when a bear sniffed the back of my neck.

I froze when a skunk walked over my shoulders.

Didn’t cough when I swallowed a gnat.

Didn’t scream when a wasp stung me in the eye.

Didn’t even scratch when the poison oak started burning my backside.

But then... two squirrels crawled up my pant legs and one whispered,
‘Should we eat them here or take them to go?’

And well… I kinda just panicked.”
