You will need to have a look at the income/assets tests.
If you are a veteran with active service/qualifing service you can apply through DVA for a Service Pension at age 60.

It will count against your age pension. They will adjust your age pension according to the income you get from your DFRDB

I am assuming DFRDB means Defence Forces Disability Pension. Any Pension payment your receive, whether this is from the armed forces or whether it is an overseas pension means that the Australian Government will adjust your Australian Aged Pension DOWN by the amount you receive from any other source. This means that the maxiumum "pension" payment you receive will be the same amount as an Australian Aged Pension. In the case of an overseas pension the Government even checks the relevant exchange rate and adjusts the Australian payment down in accordance with the exchange rate. You absolutely cannot win!

Do I pay tax on my Dfrdb pension?

You do not pay tax on the tax–free component of your pension at any time. At age 60, the Taxed component of your pension also becomes tax–free. The combined tax–free and taxed components are your new tax–free amount. The offset is limited to the Defined Benefit Income Cap.
