HOW!? Aussie mum travels 900km for 10 HOURS just to get groceries…

How far are you willing to go to get your much-needed groceries?

For this one mum in the Northern Territory, she's willing to brave a 10-hour, 900km roundtrip for a simple supermarket dash.

Ell Regan, a 28-year-old country singer originally from New South Wales, lives with her husband and their one-year-old son on a remote homestead in the Northern Territory, halfway between Tennant Creek in the NT and Camooweal in Queensland.

The Regan family has only recently moved to the remote location, which is around 1151 kilometres away from Darwin (nearly a 12-hour drive).

In a video that she posted on TikTok, Ell revealed that she travels 450 kilometres across the Queensland border to her closest Woolworths and Kmart in Mount Isa every two weeks just to fetch her groceries.

"10-hour round trip to get a Click & Collect from Woolies and pop into Kmart," the mum-of-one said in the clip.

In a follow-up video she posted on her account, she further explained her grocery situation to viewers and why she has to make the 10-hour roundtrip just to get to Woolies and Kmart.

In an interview with Yahoo! Australia, Ms Regan said that she also visits the nearer IGA store in Tennant Creek, which is ‘only’ 211 kilometres (2 hours and 12 minutes away from her home).

However, there are times that some essentials are missing from the small store so she has no choice but to make the 10-hour trip to Woolies, Coles, and Kmart.

When asked about traffic, she said that driving was much faster in the Territory than in the urban city. "Dead straight drive and no traffic, it goes pretty fast haha!" she wrote in the comments.

Several viewers commented that Ell's grocery situation made them reflect on their own, saying that they would never take their local supermarkets for granted ever again.

"I will never take for granted the 2 Woolworths, 1 Coles and 1 Harris farm that are within 500m of my apartment ever again," joked one user.

Sometimes, it's easy to forget just how insanely big Australia is…

What are your thoughts on this, folks? Is this rural lifestyle something that you would like to try?

I know what it's like to be isolated in a remote mining town, but we did have shops. This lady decided to drive to her chosen shops, and when you're so far away from other people, driving there and seeing and speaking to them would be a welcome outing. I'd do it too.

She needs to learn to buy in bulk.
