Hostile Witness!​

Lawyers should never ask a grandmother a question if they are not prepared for the answer.
During a trial in a small town, the prosecuting attorney called his first witness, an elderly woman, to the stand.
The lawyer approaches and, to check his mental state, he asks:
- Ms. Antonia, do you know who I am?
She, with the calm that the years give, replied:
- Yes, Dr. Vargas. I've known you since you were a kid and frankly,
I'll tell you that you ended up being a huge disappointment to your parents.
You always lie, think you know everything, are arrogant, abusive, cheat on your wife,
and worst of all, manipulate people. Yes sir, I know him very well...
A silence invaded the room...
The lawyer was perplexed not knowing exactly what to do.
Reacting after a moment, he pointed to the room and asked the same:
- Do you know the defence attorney?
- Of course I do! Dr Carvalho!? His mother, who was recently widowed,
wasn't proud of him either, in fact, she looks a lot like you.
Because besides being a cheater and corrupt, he has a drinking problem.
He cheats on his wife with three women, one of which is your wife.
Yes sir, I know Dr. Carvalho...
The defence attorney almost fell over.
So the judge called the two lawyers to the stand and says:
- If any of you ask this old woman if she knows me, I'll have both of you arrested!"
