Homemade Sausage Rolls

I love a good sausage roll and this one is definitely top of the list.

Prep + cook time 35 min
Makes 72

Ingredients
1 medium onion finely chopped
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
500g sausage mince
500g ground beef mince
1 egg
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
6 sheets puff pastry
1 egg,extra, beaten lightly
2 tablespoons sesame seeds optional

Method

1. Preheat oven 220°C / 200°C fan-forced. Line oven trays with baking paper.

2. Combine onion, breadcrumbs, sausage mince and beef mince, egg,sauce and parsley in a large bowl.

3. Cut pastry sheets in half lengthways along centre of each pastry sheet. Place equal amounts of filling mixture along edge of each pastry, roll to enclose filling and seal. Cut each roll into six pieces. Place on oven tray seam side down. Brush with extra beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds..

Bake rolls in oven for 25 minutes or until golden and puffed. Serve hot with tomato sauce.

Notes

1. Uncooked sausage rolls freeze well for up to 3 months

2. If I have stale bread I will make breadcrumbs from that otherwise any breadcrumbs including panko works well
