Home and Away star's terrifying encounter leads to vital warning for fans

In the age of social media, where celebrities and fans can connect more easily than ever, a dark side is becoming increasingly prevalent: the rise of online impersonation.

Ethan Browne, known for his role as Tane Parata on the popular Australian soap opera Home and Away, has recently experienced this firsthand.

The actor has issued an urgent warning to his fans after a series of unsettling incidents involving fake profiles pretending to be him on social media platforms.

Ethan Browne took to his Instagram Stories to alert his followers about the proliferation of imposters creating false Ethan profiles.

He emphasised the importance of fan safety and urged his audience to be cautious and sceptical of anyone claiming to be him online.

'Please protect yourselves and don't message anyone who claims to be me,' Ethan stated emphatically.

'They are all scams!'

The actor clarified that he does not engage in private messaging with fans and that his Instagram and a personal Facebook page, reserved for family and friends, are his only social media accounts.

'I would never privately message anyone other than my family and friends,' he wrote.

'Unfortunately, I can't control every false account out there. Please be wise and don't respond to them.'

The issue of fake celebrity profiles is not new, but it seems to be growing, especially within fan communities.

Members of various Home and Away social media fan groups have reported encounters with scammers masquerading as Ethan Browne.

These imposters often infiltrate the groups and engage with fans, sometimes asking for photos or suggesting personal meet-ups.

One fan recounted a particularly alarming interaction in which a fake Ethan profile contacted her with private messages, prompting her to block the account.

Another fan shared a similar experience, saying, 'I got one from him (supposedly), and I said he was one of my favourite actors on the show. Next thing, I knew he wanted a photo of me, and the pennies dropped. I was being scammed.'

It seems that King Charles quite fancied my profile. Lol. Of course blocked and reported immediately. Nobody famous would be interested in me so off to trash they go.

I also had a fake message from someone on Home and Away funny thing it was someone I actually know, she is my daughters Godmothers niece .
I knew straight away it didn't seem like her and the other thing was her name has a red star on it as she has so many followers.
I called her to let her know and she was already aware. Apparently this us happening to all of them

I've had messages from Twiggy Forrest, Gina Rinehart, Ally Langdon, Dick Smith, some political goose named Morrison, even Elon Musk ... but this Ethan character? I should be so lucky! I'd sign up straight away if he chose to email me.
