Home and Away star reveals her earnings from show reruns—find out how much!

For many, the Australian soap opera Home and Away has been a staple of our television viewing for decades.

It's a show that has brought us laughter, tears, and a sense of community as we followed the lives of the residents of Summer Bay.

One of the characters, Sally Fletcher, played by Kate Ritchie, grew up before our eyes, transforming from a young girl into a central figure of the show.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the stars of such an iconic series after the cameras stop rolling?

During a candid chat with her Nova radio co-hosts, Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli, on the Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie show, the topic of TV royalties came up.

The conversation started with a discussion about the cast of the American sitcom Friends and the royalties they continue to earn, which led to Ritchie revealing her own experience with residuals from Home and Away.

It's been a decade since Ritchie last appeared as Sally Fletcher and almost twenty years since she was a full-time cast member.

Yet, the show's international success means it's broadcast in over 60 countries.

This global reach translates into residual payments for the actors, including Ritchie.

When Fitzy asked if she received cheques for her past work, she confirmed, 'Yeah, I think so ... something like that!'

Although she didn't disclose the exact amount, her casual tone suggests it's a modest sum, perhaps akin to the' 80 bucks' Fitzy mentioned.

Despite the seemingly small residuals, Ritchie's connection to Home and Away remains strong.

She often shares throwback moments from the soap on her social media, much to the delight of fans and former co-stars.

In a nostalgic and somewhat humorous post, she shared a compilation of clips featuring young Sally Fletcher being told 'No!' by various characters, set to Celine Dion's All By Myself.

‘Poor Sally. Seriously. Sure does make sense of some [email protected] keep them coming.’

‘You give us old Home and Awayers many, many LOLs #sallyfletcher.’

The post resonated with fans and co-stars alike, with Debra Lawrance, who played Pippa Ross, commenting with sympathy and humour.

‘Oh, dearest Kate!! The scriptwriters made us do it,’ she said.

Ritchie's journey as Sally Fletcher began when she was just eight years old in 1988, and she continued in the role until 2008.

She even briefly returned in 2013 to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary.

In other news, former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie shared a relatable 'mum moment' on social media, where she tried to encourage her daughter Mae to keep going on a bush walk.

The candid video, showing a frustrated Ritchie and her unimpressed daughter, received a massive response from celebrities and fans. Read more about it here.
