Hilarious video of ‘introverted’ dogs meeting up goes viral – ‘The funniest thing I’ve ever seen!’

As the pandemic gradually dwindles, some of us may start noticing a semblance of our normal life returning – and that includes invitations to reunite with family members and friends. Hooray…. Or maybe nay.

There are two types of people: Those who are staunch believers of the saying ‘the more, the merrier’ and the other half with social batteries that drain faster than a smartphone. If you’re leaning towards the latter, then you’re commonly referred to as an introvert.

It’s completely okay to prefer the peace and quiet that comes with spending time alone. Funnily enough, the trait isn’t exclusive to humans.

An amusing video featuring a group of 'introverted' dogs meeting up at a local park has taken the internet by storm. Instead of happily frolicking around and wagging their tails as one would expect dogs to do, they awkwardly remained still and refused to interact with each other.

The viral clip was shared by TikTok user @qilastiktok and has since been viewed over 23.6 million times.

'My dog is an introvert so we went for a meeting with like-minded dogs. This is what happened.' they captioned the footage, adding: 'It's like a pasture of cows.’

Several dogs can be seen sitting or standing near their owners, looking confused and unsure how to act.

Thousands of TikTok users flooded the comments to express their reactions, with many finding the ordeal hilarious.

‘This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!’ one woman wrote.

‘All of them are avoiding eye contact!’ another pointed out alongside laughing emojis.

‘Maybe bring in a golden retriever as the facilitator next time.’ a third suggested.

‘Don’t worry, dogs. I can relate too.’ said a third, while a fourth mocked ‘Good hang out, let's do it again next year.’

‘They all secretly hoped that the plan to meet up would’ve fallen through.’ joked another.

One more commented: ‘This is what my coffee break at the IT department looks like.’

According to Wag! Walking, dogs can indeed have their personalities like humans. ‘Maybe your dog is super energetic, friendly, loves people, and thrives on attention,’ they wrote on their website.

‘However, maybe your friend's pup likes to be left alone, doesn't like to play with other dogs much, or prefers calm cuddle time over being in groups.’

‘It turns out, dogs do have different personalities and some show signs of being people lovers, while others tend to stick to the sidelines as observers.’

Introverted dogs are very much like introverted humans. If your little pooch doesn’t enjoy playing with other dogs, gets overwhelmed by large crowds, and usually is uncomfortable with new people, then chances are they are introverted.

‘They may come across as timid and standoffish or act completely disinterested in the person coming over to say hello. Much like humans, your introverted dog may have times when they will enjoy being around people, getting pets and cuddles, and having all attention to themselves,’ they continued.

‘But there will come a point when your pooch may wander away from the crowd and seek time away to sleep and recharge. At this point, they are done with the attention and are ready to go home and find time for themselves.’

It’s important to give your pup some time and space to recharge when they start feeling drained from interacting with others. Wag! Walking warned: ‘Forcing your introverted dog to engage in highly social situations too often can cause a significant amount of stress and anxiety in their life.’

‘Although bringing your puppy or dog to places where they can learn to peacefully socialise with other dogs and humans is imperative, your introverted dog has its limitations.’

But if there’s anything an introverted human and pet share, it’s their love and understanding of each other. So don’t forget to give the shy pooches (and people) some affection too! Everyone thrives on kindness.
