Hi everyone, I am a new member
After reading about some scams it bought to mind a situation which happened to me a little while ago. I ordered an item on line from a company in China, an item too big to go in a letterbox, received a letter and a free gift as a thank you for shopping with them, thought that was nice even though the gift was rubbish, a Chinese key ring and bookmark or something, nothing I would use, but my actual item did not arrive after waiting some extended time. The thankyou gift was delivered into my letterbox. The problem that arose was the shipping tracking, according to them and post office the 'item' I ordered was delivered into my letterbox, my local post office had a photo of my letterbox where the item was supposedly delivered. I told them the item would have been too big for my letterbox. Post office said they couldn't do anything as they believe it was delivered. No reasonable response from my reaching out to the original company, they said it had left their country and according to the tracking it was delivered. I put in a depute in Paypal and after some back and forth my depute was declined and the tracking says it was delivered. Then I woke up with a realization of what the company did. I then emailed Paypal had an on line conversation with a member of their team, I did not want anyone else to get trapped with this scam, she looked into it with their security team, apparently I was right, they had other photos of worthless items being received instead of the actual item ordered. this was a scam this company had done previously and Paypal gave me a full refund. Quite clever really, receive money for a more expensive item from customer, send some crappy trinket in post as a 'thank you', then they have the tracking information of delivery, I hope Paypal have blocked this company from trading through them, although they could just open up under a different name and do it again. Just be aware scammers are very clever and working hard to make money from and through you. Cheers
