As we get closer and closer to Christmas, the excitement is definitely building! And one of the things we can always count on to get us into the holiday spirit is all the delicious seasonal food that comes along with it.
Supermarkets always bring out their best for Christmas, and this year is certainly no different. We've already seen some amazing offerings from Coles and Bunnings – now, it's time for IGA to reveal its hand!
As always, we love seeing what each store brings to the table and how they differ from one another. Of course, every year, we can expect their own versions of traditional Christmas fare like pudding, tarts and ham... but it's great to see how they each add their own unique twist.
It's only the second year that the store has introduced a Christmas selection, but following last year's popularity, they're back with more. And trust us when we say there's something for everyone in this line!
The 2022 Signature range focuses on local Australian produce with an emphasis on simplicity so you can enjoy stress-free entertaining over the holidays.
It brings back some of our favourite items from last year while also introducing some new exciting additions that are sure to make your Christmas dinner unforgettable!
The products in the 2022 IGA Signature collection have been carefully selected to represent the best of what Australia has to offer.
'Our 2022 Christmas Signature Collection has something for even the most discerning taste buds,' says Head of Fresh and Private Label, Estella Young.
'It's made specially for our customers with local produce to showcase and support our country's quality-led artisan producers and the sensational ingredients we are lucky to have right here on our doorstep.'
Mains
IGA's naturally smoked bone-in leg ham, which has won multiple awards, has returned to the spotlight and is available for $9.50 per kilo.
All of the hams were procured locally to help Australian farmers and are a part of the IGA Price Match Program, which compares and matches the lowest shelf price of the two major supermarket chains so that customers will not spend more at an IGA location.
The ever-impressive Beef Wellington is also available again, this time for only $15 for two servings and without any of the laborious preparation required.
With genuine Australian beef and finely chopped mushroom duxelles encased in buttery puff pastry, this dish is a show-stopper and a party-pleaser.
This year's new addition to the menu is the Signature Pork Crackling Roast, which costs $20 per kilo and features Australian pork shoulder with a crackling skin that crisps up easily in the oven.
With the hard work already done by seasoning the meat with a mustard and herb rub, all that's left to do is throw it in the oven. Once done, serve and enjoy!
'Thanks to the work of our amazing suppliers, the Signature crackling roast will help deliver the perfect roast,' Ms Young went on to say.
'We've done all the work to help make it easier to achieve the perfect crackling every time and make even the worst of us in the kitchen a hero. We can't wait for our local shoppers to taste it this Christmas.'
Dessert
Of course, no Christmas feast would be complete without a traditional pudding, and IGA's offerings certainly won't disappoint.
There's no denying the eye-catching appeal of a gold-dusted Six-Month Matured Christmas Pudding – the puddings, which can be purchased for $9.00 (400g) or $15.00 (800g), are topped with plenty of soaked fruit and finished with gold dust!
This is one of the more indulgent puddings on the menu thanks to the sultanas, raisins, cherries, and citrus peel, as well as the Australian wildflower honey and almonds.
And for those of you who prefer something a little lighter, IGA's Brandy Infused Mince Pies are sure to hit the spot.
These mince tarts, which cost $11 for a box of six, are unlike any you've had before. The inside is a brandy-infused spiced fruit mince, and the crust is a truly delicate and buttery shortcrust. They are crumbly, have a hint of sweetness, and are full of currants, sultanas, and apples that have been softened by soaking in brandy.
Along with the other available sweets, these mince pies will restore your trust in holiday delicacies if you've previously been let down.
These buttery cookies, known as Decorated Shortbread Cookies, are making a comeback for the holiday season with a beautiful ribbon design that allows you to hang them on the tree (if you don't eat them first, of course).
These melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies are $11 for a six-pack and are the epitome of crispiness and crumbliness. Plus, for only $4.50, you may have the charming and inexpensive gift that has just the right amount of holiday cheer: Shortbread Cookie Shapes!
There's something for everyone in IGA's new range, so head to your local store and get your Christmas feast sorted today!
Certainly, this year's Christmas feast has everyone beyond giddy, and we can't help but show it! Well, how about you, folks? Are you already thinking about the foods and recipes you'll make for the holidays? Leave a comment below and let us know!
