Here’s how one couple “sorted” out their health problems and managed to land million-dollar deal with Coles

For those who are unfamiliar, our gut – located in the digestive tract – is home to hundreds of trillions of different bacteria that are divided between good and bad.

On the same hand, maintaining good gut health refers to the proper balance between these microorganisms, ensuring that we always have enough good bacteria so that the bad microbes won’t be left to their own devices and dominate our stomach (which may cause bowel diseases, allergies, and even obesity).

One Melbourne-based couple found out that taking care of their gut does not only help them prevent digestion-related diseases, but also solve their current health problems.

And after finding out what works for them the best, they became eager to share their “light bulb” idea with the world.

Fast forward to today, and they have landed a million dollar deal with supermarket giant Coles. Their gut health solution is now available in stores around the country!

Despite their relatively active lifestyle, Adrian Soon and his wife Ivy Ong used to struggle with health problems of their own.

Adrian, a tennis coach and a former business consultant, suffered from pain from a growing bump in his toe. Turned out, it was a ganglion filled with fluid. On the other hand, Ivy was dealing with her psoriasis, which showed as red, scaly patches on her skin.

After a long time of trying to find a solution to their problems, the couple shifted their attention to their gut.

“(The gut) is one of the largest organs and when inflamed it starts showing up in various different ways,” said Ivy, after finding out that almost 70 per cent of health problems start in the gut.

Right then and there, they discovered Kefir – a drink made by fermenting milk, commonly used to “reset the gut” by bringing in more good bacteria. But since Adrian is lactose intolerant, the couple ended up making water kefir.

After four months of drinking one shot of kefir daily, the results they got were almost unbelievable.

Ivy’s psoriasis became much more manageable than before. Adrian, on the other hand, healed from the growth in his toe. It even dealt with his hemorrhoids, something he has also battled most of his life.

After discovering that kefir worked wonders for them, Adrian and Ivy became eager to share the product with others to help them deal with their health problems as well.

Thus, The Good Seed Kefir was born.

Adrian and Ivy both quit their corporate jobs to give their full energy and attention to their new business venture. And even though they began with a rough start, the duo pushed through with hard work and dedication.

The Good Seed Kefir started small, only renting the kitchen bench of someone’s cafe to ferment their drinks. Adrian and Ivy themselves hand-tightened hundreds of bottle caps, and even gave away their drinks for free, just to build up a following.

And once they got the attention of major Aussie supermarkets, they upgraded their space and bought their own factory to keep up with the demand.

After five years of tireless commitment to their product, Ivy and Adrian just went on to land their biggest deal yet. Their latest probiotic drink, “Sorted.” was bought by Coles in a million-dollar deal.

“We are over the moon — just so excited,” said Ivy. “We started off on a rented kitchen bench, so it’s crazy to be here now.

“It’s such a momentous occasion for us as it gives a lot of hope and especially in times like this, so it’s nice to be able to serve the community.”

Starting February 21, “Sorted.” probiotic drinks will be available for $3 each, either online or on Coles shelves across the country.

I can hardly wait for the release of Sorted on the 21st. After I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome many people including my dietitian recommended Kefir. But being lactose intolerant it just wasn't an option. I really look forward to trying Sorted.
