'Healthier' Sausage and Egg McMuffin Recipe!
- Replies 2
When it comes to burgers, fries, dessert treats, and breakfast meals, Maccas sure knows the way to every Aussie's heart.
However, we have to admit that our favourite fast-food restaurant is not the "healthiest" food option out there, nor do we always have the time (or money) to go out or order takeout.
But not to worry, because when it comes to healthy versions of our favourite fast-food meals, there is a name that we can always count on for the job.
Bec Hardgrave, a health and fitness coach based in Brisbane, has become popular online for creating healthier alternatives to a variety of classic fast-food meals and treats.

And now she's here again to share a new recipe with us – a healthier version of our favourite sausage and egg McMuffin that you can easily make at home!
Oh, and did we mention that the recipe uses only four affordable ingredients that you can easily pick up in supermarkets? You only need the following:
Ingredients:
- 1 Wholemeal English Muffin
- 1 Extra Lean Beef Peppercorn Sausages
- 1 whole egg
- 1 Coles Smokey Cheese Slice
And here's how to do it:
First, take one beef sausage out of its plastic casing and roll the mince into a ball. Then flatten it out, creating a round patty shape.
Place the patty into a hot pan. Next, using a stainless egg ring, crack an egg on the pan to cook as well.
While the meat patty and the egg are cooking, slice one wholemeal English muffin in half and toast it inside your toaster.
Once the muffins are toasted, it's time to assemble your fakeaway McMuffin!
Place one slice of smokey cheddar cheese at the bottom, followed by the cooked egg and then the beef sausage patty. Finish by placing the top half of the muffin and enjoy!
According to the health coach, this fakeaway recipe is healthier than the McMuffins you can buy in-store. Plus, you can even substitute the whole egg with two egg yolks instead to further reduce the calorie count!
Hundreds of foodies and Maccas fans online loved the recipe, saying that this could be "better than the real thing".
"Yum! I am making this for breakfast tomorrow. They're my fave," said one user.
Another user joked: "'Is it still healthy if I make five of them?"
