Heads up, bank-goers, significant service interruption might happen again!

In the digital age, we've come to rely heavily on the convenience of online banking.

It's become a cornerstone of financial management, allowing us to check balances, pay bills, and transfer funds with just a few clicks or taps.

However, this reliance also leaves us vulnerable when technology fails, as many bank customers recently discovered—not once, but twice in a short time.

Just weeks after a significant disruption, ING Australia customers were frustrated and inconvenienced as they encountered another major outage.

On a Wednesday morning, customers found themselves locked out of their internet banking and unable to access the ING app and website.

The timing couldn't have been worse, with many Australians starting their day expecting to complete essential financial transactions.

ING Australia acknowledged the issue promptly, apologising and assuring their teams were investigating the problem.

'We are aware that some customers are currently experiencing issues accessing the ING app and website,' the bank stated.

The first signs of trouble were reported on DownDetector at around 7:30 am, and customers quickly turned to social media to express dissatisfaction.

‘Looks like I’m not buying anything this morning. Come on guys, not good enough,’ one wrote on social media.

‘AGAIN! This happened 2-3 weeks ago as well.’ another said.

‘No worries, guys. I am just waiting to transfer the money so we can get our car back from being serviced this morning. We’ll walk everywhere instead. Useless,’ a third added.

This outage echoed a similar incident four weeks prior, on 30 October, when customers could not access online banking services around 9 am.

At its peak, over 2,300 people reported issues with ING Australia's banking services, highlighting the widespread impact of such outages.

Bendigo Bank experienced an outage that disrupted its e-banking and app services, preventing customers from accessing online services.

The bank acknowledged the issue on Thursday afternoon and confirmed that services were fully restored by 1:45 pm. You can read more about it here.
