Heading Home - The Great Ocean Road

We travel between Kalgoorlie and Tasmania every couple of years or so. Generally try to travel via the coastal roads where possible - better scenery and usually less traffic. We often camp close to water and I love a bit of fishing. The Great Ocean Road in Victoria is one of our favourite travel routes.IMGP1796.JPG

It is a great trip. We have travelled from Adelaide to Melbourne via Mount Gambier and down to the coast at Nelson just across the Victorian border, and then following the coast virtually right around to Geelong, and returned home reversing the same route. There are plenty of great places to stay overnight, and we have never stayed in the same place twice.
Now that our son has moved across to Vic and is living in Bendigo though, trips across that side of the country are more likely to be via the inland route. I was last across there a year ago on a break from my work in South Australia. I couldn't come home at the time due to the WA border being closed, so on my R&R breaks I would either hire a car at Adelaide airport and drive across to Bendigo, or a couple of times I flew down to Tassie to visit my mum.
