Growing up in the 60s
Growing up in the 60s in a Sydney suburb of peakhurst
I never remember saying we were bored
At school we would buy the best finger bun cakes cream buns and meat pies
We hated the warm bottles of milk
At lunch we would play hopscotch, elastics or skipping
After school we stopped off at the little shop and buy lollies 2 for 1cent or maybe a black choo choo bar
At home it would be doing homework then out to play with the kids , we would either go to the park or play games on the road ( imagine letting the kids play on the road today)
Then home for dinner , maybe bangers n Mash or chops. Roast dinners were kept for Sundays
Summer nights we would wait for Mr whippy to buy an icecream home or sundae
Life seamed more simple , less complicated
Most mums were stay at home mums
Children respected adults
Children played outside
Gosh we were even happy with black n white TV's that didn't run 24/7
At least we experienced it and have those memories
It scares me what the world will be like in another 20 years
