A Simple Test, A Big Relief
A world-first blood test developed in Australia can now detect coeliac disease even while patients stay on gluten-free diets.
Traditionally, patients had to consume gluten for weeks, often experiencing painful symptoms, just to get diagnosed. However, researchers at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute say this new test could ‘take away the pain of diagnosis’ altogether.
Gastroenterologist Jason Tye-Din believes this innovation will make diagnosis ‘quicker, more accurate and much less distressing.’ This means more people can get answers without suffering.
