Major Step Toward an HIV Cure
A team of Aussie scientists may have found a new way to treat — and one day cure — HIV using mRNA technology.
Researchers at the Doherty Institute at the University of Melbourne have developed a method that helps immune cells flush out hidden HIV from white blood cells. It’s an early but game-changing step towards eliminating the virus completely.
The team says this is the first time this approach has been proven to work in HIV-infected cells. Human trials are still a few years away, but the research marks a big moment in the fight against HIV.
