One of the contributing brands is Sydney-based Fardoulis Chocolates, a family-owned artisan chocolate maker founded in 1985. The company produces more than 400,000 units of individually wrapped sweets a week and distributes them to the food service industry.
Anna Fardoulis, the CEO, shared her experience after partnering with the supermarket chain. She said, ‘Woolworths approached us in October last year, stating that they were interested in our Cellophane gift packs for their premium stores.’ Anna says that the plan was to try out their promos in around 20 stores back in May of this year, but due to COVID, this was postponed.
Anna also says that it’s finally time for smaller artisanal chocolate makers to be respected by major companies. ‘I say good on Woolworths for standing by their motto.’ She shares.

Now, the market is recovering and steadily approaching the busy Christmas season. The demand for premium products at low prices has also risen, giving these entrepreneurs a window of opportunity.
Anna believes that ‘Woolworths has seen a change in market demand for premium, following the likes of Ritchie and Romeos, IGA, and Harris Farm Markets.’
Woolworths is offering gift bags that include 25 pieces of delicious assorted or single-flavour chocolates from boutique Australian chocolate makers. Some of the flavours on offer include Cookies and Creme, Dark Truffle Mousse, and Milk Truffle Mousse.
And if you're worried about the quality of the chocolates, don't be. These sweet treats are made from a ganache recipe – one that returning customers love. The product also strikes a perfect balance between milk and dark chocolate. Plus, the smooth blended coating is made from 45% cocoa, giving each piece an extra rich flavour.
