Get as much as $10 off selected products from Coles’ new cost-of-living deal!

We all know how expensive it is just to live these days – and that’s before we even think about the fun stuff, like going out with friends or buying new clothes!

But one thing we can be grateful for is that, as Aussies, we are becoming savvier and savvier when it comes to shopping around for ways to save a buck. And supermarkets are starting to sit up and take notice.

This week, Coles and Flybuys announced a new cost-of-living initiative that will see shoppers saving up to $10 on some grocery items.

The savings will be on everyday items including coffee, cheese, yoghurt, juices, cereal, roast chooks, and select mince meat products.

Customers will need to swipe their Flybuys card when they make a relevant purchase for discounts ranging from $1, $2, $3, $5, or $10.

Coles will introduce the exclusive Flybuys member prices from Wednesday, November 2, with new savings being introduced throughout the month.

According to Coles Commercial and Express Chief Executive Leah Weckert, a recent survey revealed that around a third of 7500 respondents — about 2,500 people — said they used supermarkets’ catalogues and loyalty programs to manage their budgets for food.

‘We will continue to provide deep discounts on around 6500 products each week across various specials and relevant Flybuys offers to help with cost-of-living pressures,’ she added.

The grocery chain also recently told suppliers to cut operating costs ahead of anticipated requests for price increases over rising supermarket inflation.

This is great news for Australians who are feeling the squeeze of rising inflation on property, fuel, and grocery prices – which show no sign of slowing down anytime soon according to Finder money expert Sarah Megginson.

She said: ‘This high inflation we’re seeing is putting immense pressure on household budgets and can lead to financial stress.’

Financial stress indeed, as recent government data revealed that inflation has soared to its highest levels in 32 years at 7.3% year-on-year — in turn leading to projections that the cost of living might rise by half next year.

In particular, food has been hit significantly with fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and bread and cereals all posting 10% increases and beyond compared to last year, according to reports.

Recent flooding has also raised more concerns about food inflation over destroyed crops, adding to Aussies’ food-related woes.

Data from hunger relief charity Foodbank revealed that one in three Aussies experience ‘food insecurity’ or difficulty in sourcing food.

And on the side of wages, recent findings from financial comparison site Canstar found that Aussies earning an average of $90,000 annually need a total of around $8500 to keep up with rising costs across the board.

With these in mind, any little bit helps when it comes to saving on groceries – and this new cost-of-living initiative from Coles and Flybuys is a great way to help Aussies save on their weekly grocery bills.

Low-Carb Bread is $6.95 for 12-14 slices. How is that fair? Gluten Free bread is $7.00 for 12-14 slices,
Low carb has 5.2 - 5.4 carbs per 2 slices.
Normal bread has 27-32 carbs per 2 slices! Normal bread is $1.30-$4.50 for 20 slices.
The healthier the bread means the less bread you get and pay three times more!
This must be addressed!
Why is healthy so unfairly expensive here?

Last week I bought water melon for $3.30, this week I refused to pay $5.50. Why? Water melon is mostly water anyway (the hint is in the name!). I am trying to eat healthier but it's getting damned difficult.:(

I purchased watermelon from Woolies on line last week. For 1/4 of a watermelon it stated $5.50 for 1/4 or $22.00 for a whole one.
When it arrived it was such a small piece I weighed it and the weight was 1.2kg the average watermelon is around 8kg 🤔
