George Street in 1969

Back in October 1969, this stretch of George Street in Sydney had it all—cinemas like the Rapallo and Paramount, buzzing neon signs, and of course, The Trocadero, where the night didn’t end with just a movie. You'd grab a bite, then hit the dance floor in your best gear.

I danced at Balls at the Troc and worked at MBF. My Mother-in Law not far on other side of the street. I knew this street quite well.

I was walking down George Street on my honeymoon that year and heard my name called. This was odd as I lived my whole life in Melbourne. Amazingly it was a friend from New Zealand that also was on a visit in Sydney. Will never forget that day. Btw we are still friends but now on Facebook as she is a full time carer for her husband
